UNITED STATES (Reuters) - President Donald Trump of the United States agreed with the request of seven top technology companies of the country to lift the ban on their business with Huawai, China s telecom giant.
At a meeting with the U.S. president on Monday, CEOs of the seven U.S. technology companies, Micron, Western Digital, Qualcomm, Google, Cisco, Intel and Broadcom, said they wanted to resume doing business with Chinese telecom giant Huawei. And Trump agreed with their request for quicker licensing decisions from the Commerce Department on Huawei, the White House said on Monday.
But the CEOs also expressed "strong support" for policies restricting the use of Huawei products.
Trump agreed to make timely decisions on their request to sell their products to Huawei Technologies, the White House said.
The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) of the U.S. Department of Commerce put Huawei and its affiliates on an "Entity List" on May 16, which restricts the sale or transfer of U.S. technologies to Huawei.
