Meanwhile, millers have increased the price of flour significantly.

FAISALABAD (Dunya News) – The Food Department in Faisalabad has halted the supply of wheat to the flour mills, which in consequence has raised prices of flour in the open market.

Wheat was being supplied at the rate of Rs1,300 per 40 kg, and it was being sold at Rs1,450 per 40 kg in open markets.

Meanwhile, millers have increased the price of flour significantly, forcing consumers to take a costly ride.

Attributing flour price hike to rising wheat prices in open market, the chairman of the Flour Mills Association has asserted that the government should ensure the supply of wheat during whole year.

On the other hand, the district food controller told the media that according to the policies, the government halts supply of wheat from the month of April to September; however, a new strategy was being developed to ensure the supply of wheat till the end of this month.

The general public has urged the district administration and the food department to adopt effective measures for controlling prices of wheat and flour, instead of doing only ‘paper work’.
