Wahab Riaz dethrones Imran Khan as second highest Pakistani wicket-taker in World Cup

Wahab Riaz has played only three editions of the World Cup from 2011 to 2019 so far where has gotten 35 wickets at the average of 25.91 in 20 games.
LONDON (Dunya News) – Pakistani pacer Wahab Riaz today (July 5) surpassed the former skipper Imran Khan to take place as second highest Pakistani wicket-taker in World Cup with 35 wickets, staying behind only legendary bowler Wasim Akram.
Wahab claimed the second place by getting Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim bowled in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at the Lord’s.
Wahab has taken 35 wickets so far to surpass Imran Khan’s 34 wickets to be the second highest wicket taker. He has taken 11 wickets in the current edition of the World Cup.
Imran Khan, who led Pakistan to the title in 1992, has played five editions of the tournament from 1975 to 1992 where he got 34 wickets with an average of 19.26 in 28 matches and opted to bowl in only 19 of the innings.

Legendary pacer and ‘Swing of Sultan’ remains at the top with 55 wickets in 36 innings at the average of 23.83.
Wahab Riaz was added in the World Cup squad at the last moment which has proved to be futile for Pakistan’s WC campaign despite their failure to qualify for the semi-finals.
