Ramzan Sugar Mills case: NAB produces Hamza Shahbaz before accountability court.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The accountability court on Friday has rejected the appeal of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to extend physical remand of Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz in Ramzan Sugar Mills, alleged money laundering and assets cases.
During the hearing, NAB Special Prosecutor Waris Ali Janjua presented arguments on behalf of the anti-corruption watchdog while Advocate Amjad Pervez represented Shehbaz Sharif. The court has ordered to send Hamza Shahbaz to the jail.
The court has already indicted Hamza Shahbaz and Shehbaz Sharif – Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly – in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case, and witness Riaz Hussain recorded his statement during the previous hearing.
Let it be known that the NAB had detained Hamza Shahbaz on June 11 as the Lahore High Court (LHC) turned down his applications for extension in the interim bail.
The development allowed the NAB to further investigate into corruption charges against him, and in this regard, a special team shifted him to the bureau’s headquarter at Thokar Niaz Baig in Lahore.
