(Reuters) As part of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon, a full-size replica statue of Neil Armstrong’s Apollo 11 spacesuit was unveiled on Tuesday (June 4) at the Washington Nationals baseball stadium in the U.S. capitol.

The hand-made statue was made of rigid resin and created using Smithsonian 3-D scan of the spacesuit, which the National Air and Space Museum will put on display on July 16th.

The spacesuit at Nationals Park is the first of 15 that will be placed at Major League ballparks across the country.

According to organizers, each suit has an interactive components for fans to scan with their phone cameras and access additional information and videos about the Apollo 11 mission.

On July 20, 1969, American astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moon and said the words, "That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Armstrong made that first spacewalk with Buzz Aldrin while astronaut Michael Collins sat in the spacecraft.
