Salary raise for doctors added in fiscal year budget list

PFD allocated Rs16 billion in the budget list that was presented in CM House today.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab Finance Department (PFD) has incorporated a package of Rs16 billion for the increase in salaries of doctors in fiscal year 2019-20. Raise will take effect from July 1.

On the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan, Punjab government submitted a summary to the provincial Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to seek the approval of salary raise for doctors.

PFD allocated Rs16 billion in the budget list that was presented in CM House today.

According to the sources, this package budget has been added in government’s priorities list which will raise salary of medical officer from Rs120,000 to Rs138,000.

Post Graduate (PG) doctors will get a raise from Rs95,000 to Rs 110,000 whereas senior registrar will earn Rs120,000 increasing from Rs110,000.

Assistant professor’s salary will increase from Rs130,000 to Rs140,000 and the professors will earn Rs170,000 now instead of Rs150,000.

40,000 doctors all across the Punjab will benefit from it after its approval.

Earlier today, Finance Department Punjab has recommended ten percent raise in salary and pension of government employees in the upcoming (2019-20) provincial budget, Dunya News reported.

The finance department sources have revealed that Rs530 billion will be spent on salaries and pensions of government employees for the next fiscal year. Out of the total sum, Rs320 billion will be paid as salaries and Rs210 billion as pensions.

It has been told that only 10 percent increase in incentives is possible due to the financial situation of the province. The final approval will be given by the cabinet.
