The process of investigation should be better in accountability watchdog: SAPM

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability barrister Shehzad Akbar on Tuesday said cases against former president Asif Ali Zardari were delayed in the past but current government is trying to complete them on time.

Talking exclusively on Dunya News program Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath, he said in past Asif Zardari took advantage of the delay in cases but this would not happen now.

Responding to a question, Shehzad said many seats of judges are vacant in Lahore High Court. He said suggestions of judges’ appointment come from judiciary, adding that government is trying to increase number of judges.

He said NAB court is a special court and under the law all cases must be finished within 30 days. NAB is an independent body and chairman decides the pace of action, he added.

Former NAB deputy prosecutor said the process of investigation should be better in accountability watchdog. He said many changes were made in prosecution steps. He said NAB can hire experts for investigation when needed.
