US dollar touches historical high at Rs152 in interbank market.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The US dollar continued its upward trend against the Pakistani rupee in the interbank market after touching a historical high of Rs152 following an increase of Rs2.36 on Tuesday.
The value of the greenback increased Rs10.60 within four business days, and reached at Rs153 in the open market.
Experts believe that the sudden devaluation of local currency against the US dollar is interlinked with the government’s commitments to the IMF.
Following the devaluation of Pakistani rupee, the country’s external debt increased by Rs1100 billion.
