US$10b increase in remittances have been projected following the implementation of suggestions

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The proposals to attract overseas Pakistanis to send more remittances have been presented to Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The proposals were presented by Punjab Minister for Industries, Commerce & Investment Mian Aslam Iqbal during a high-level meeting with PM Imran Khan in chair.

PM Imran Khan directed Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Zulfikar Bukhari to implement the proposals presented by Punjab Minister for Industries, Commerce & Investment Mian Aslam Iqbal.

A sum of US$10 billion increase in the remittances have been projected following the implementation of the suggestions.

The suggestions to attract overseas Pakistanis to send more remittances include;

25 percent discount in the private schools fees to the children of those sending remittances Health cards for the families of those sending extra remittances Holiday package for families of those sending extra remittances Return PIA tickets for Pakistanis

Pakistan Banao Certificate

In February, Prime Minister Imran Khan launched Pakistan Banao Certificate to attract investment from Overseas Pakistanis and help strengthen the country’s economy.

Under the dollar-based financial instrument, the first of its kind floated by the present government, the expatriate Pakistanis have been offered 6.25pc to 6.75pc rate of return per annum on a minimum investment of US $5,000 and multiples for a period of three and five years, respectively.

Prime Minister Khan said Pakistan could become a role model for developing world once the ongoing efforts by the government came to fruition.

The prime minister also encouraged Overseas Pakistanis to send their remitttances through banking channels to benefit the precarious economic situation of the country. He, however, said that Pakistan is passing through testing times, but this difficult time will soon be over.

Highlighting salient features of PBC, Governor State Bank Tariq Bajwa said overseas Pakistanis can register themselves through an online portal.

He said minimum investment of 5000 dollars can be made through these certificates. He said Overseas Pakistanis can earn a profit upto 6.75 percent on their investments by purchasing PBC in dollars.
