Fawad Chaudhary announces Pakistan's first science fair

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhary tweeted on Thursday about the first state-level science fair of Pakistan which is to be held in August this year in Islamabad.

New Science and Technology Minister formed a committee to finalize the Islamic calendar to remove the inaccuracy of Islamic holy events and festivals like Holy Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha and Moharram for the next five years. Fawad Chaudhry incorporated relevant scientific experts for moon sighting process.

According to details, the committee comprises Dr Muhammad Tariq Masood (Joint Scientific Adviser, Ministry of Science and Technology) who will head the five-member committee which includes Waqar Ahmad (Lecturer, Meteorology Department, CUI, Islamabad), Nadeem Faisal (Deputy Director, Meteorology Department), Abu Nasan (Deputy Director, Meteorology Department) and Ghulam Murtaza (DCM, SUPARCO, Islamabad).

He proposed that science and technology should be used to sight moon, and claimed that unnecessary expenditures and controversies will be averted once a ten-year moon calendar is created.
