Zaidi will work on an honorary basis and will not draw a salary from national kitty: Farough Naseem
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Federal Law minister Farough Naseem on Wednesday expressed that the cabinet can t be pressurized by corrupt bureaucracy. He said notification of appointment of Shabbar Zaidi as chairman FBR would be issued on Thursday.
Talking exclusively in Dunya News programme "Dunya kamran Khan K Saath", the minister said there was no dispute on the appointment of Shabbar Zaidi as FBR chairman. He has been selected by PM Imran Khan and cabinet s selection committee, minister said.
He said Zaidi was not eager to join FBR however government requested him to join. Farough said Zaidi will be valuable for Pakistan as those opposing his appointment are against merit. He will leave his own firm to benefit his country, Farough added.
He said the whole country stands behind the appointment of chairman FBR adding that Zaidi will work on honorary basis and will not draw salary from national kitty.
He said appointment of Zaidi came after a due deliberation and cabinet thanks Zaidi for accepting the post.
Responding to a question the minister said all laws have been taken into account before appointing Zaidi as FBR Chairman adding that the case of Ali Arshad Hakeem was different. He said in special conditions appointment can be made by revoking rules.
He said there is no legal hindrance in the appointment of Zaidi adding that government can appoint any person suitable for post. He said Zaidi knows FBR and would increase the tax net.
