Government prepares registration form for madrassas

Even art education will be affiliated with the relevant institution.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said on Monday that madrassas across the country are being associated with the Ministry of Education. 10 regional offices will be opened for the registration of madrassas.
Addressing to a press conference, he said that unregistered madrassas will be closed down. He expressed that government wants to improve the quality of madrassa education for which it will do every possible thing.

Federal Education Minister asserted that the registration of madrassas has no connection with the 18th amendment. All the institutions are mindful with the government for this step, he added.
According to the Dunya News sources, talks between Education Minister and Madrassa union organization showed some progress as it has been decided to grant a 9-year visa to foreign students who are studying at madrassas.
As per sources, Ministry will be able to collect all the statistics on madrassas, provinces won’t be able to intervene in the affairs of Madrassas, banks will be bound to open accounts for Madrassas and Education Ministry will provide facilities to Madrassas in the case of any difficulty.
If any institution needs data on Madrassas then they will contact the Education Ministry instead of going to madrassas. Even art education will be affiliated with the relevant institution.
On April 30, The National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) compiled a report on geo-tagging and registration of all the madrassas in Pakistan and announced to bring them under the Ministry of Education.
