Khusro Bakhtyar thanked vice chairman NDRC for cooperation in socio-economic development

BEIJING (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar on Wednesday said that the projects in BOT financing mod may be encouraged especially in eastern corridor under CPEC framework.

Minister of Planning expresses these views while talking to National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) vice chairman Ning Jizhe during his visit to Beijing, China on Wednesday.

The two sides discussed the progress on CPEC projects and the future course of action. Secretary planning Zafar Hasan, Project Director Hassan Daud and senior officials of both sides were also present in the meeting.

The minister said that there has been steady progress in infrastructure development adding that the ground breaking of Gawadar airport heralds a new beginning in the development of coastal city. He informed that all effort are being made for provision of electricity for execution of projects in Gwadar.

Bakhtyar appreciated the role of CIDCA and National Development & Reform Commission of China (NDRC) in approval of various projects under Joint Working Group on socio-economic development and expressed optimism that short term projects can be completed in a year.

He reiterated the need to create a chain reaction of economic expansion along the economic corridor. He said that Chinese government may encourage the private enterprises to explore opportunities in Pakistan in steel, agriculture, textile, IT and tourism sectors.

The minister thanked vice chairman NDRC for cooperation in socio-economic development and signing of MOU for the projects.
