The new discovery will help cope with the energy crisis in the country.

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Mari Petroleum Company has discovered new reserve of oil in Rawalpindi’s Ghauri block, Dunya News reported on Friday.

As per the details, it is the second consecutive discovery in Ghauri Block, which is expected to provide three hundred and seventy two barrels of crude oil on daily basis.

The new discovery will help cope with the energy crisis in the country. The oil reserve had been discovered by Mari Petroleum Company Limited.

Prime Minister Imran Khan - earlier this month - indicated that the country is about to discover a huge reserve of oil and gas, ending its economic woes.

Not divulging details of the offshore drilling process in Pakistani waters, Khan said, "Just pray that our hopes and expectations from the offshore drilling being carried out by ExxonMobil-led consortium prove to be true."

A group of multinational companies had started offshore drilling at a distance of 230 kilometers from Karachi for the exploration of oil and gas on January 14.
