PS5 will have a SSD drive that dramatically improves the loading rendering times for big games.
(Web Desk) – Mark Cerny, the lead architect of Sony’s new console, dropped info about their new generation console plan in an interview with Wired.
It is the first time Sony has talked about their next console which they have said won’t surface at least next quarter of 2020. Many important information was shared as:
PlayStation 5 (PS5) (rumored title) will support backwards compatible with PlayStation 4 games.
-It will keep its disc drive as well.
-It has been in work for over last four years where many studios are already working on next-gen games, Horizon: Zero Dawn next installment is confirmed for it, somewhere in 2021.
-Partnership with AMD will boast ray-tracing technology in the console whose first-class chip software (3rd gen AMD Ryzen 8 core 7nm Zen2 CPU) will be at the center of next console’s internal architecture.
-It will include Solid State Drive which PS4 did not have in it. It will dramatically improve the loading rendering times for big games.
-Cerny played Spider-Man on a developer kit of PS5 which showed that the open world’s loading time dropped from its usual 15 seconds on PS4 Pro to even less than a one.
-It will support 8K resolution.
-It will also include 3D audio. “As a gamer,” says Cerny, “it’s been a little bit of a frustration that audio did not change too much between PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. With the next console the dream is to show how dramatically different the audio experience can be when we apply significant amounts of hardware horsepower to it.”
-It will be compatible with PS VR- older and coming variants both.
According to Games Radar, Cerny also hinted that upcoming PS4 games like Death Stranding will be multi-platform titles, releasing first on the PS4 and then the PS5 respectively. There’s no word yet on when or where Sony will reveal more about the new piece of hardware (though Wired implies you won’t hear anything at E3 2019), but it suggests the tech titan is finally kicking off promotion for the future of the PlayStation Nation.
