Wasim Akram slams Pakistan team's 'biryani' diet plan.
KARACHI (Web Desk) – Erstwhile Test skipper and legendary fast bowler – while bashing the diet plan of Pakistan cricketers – said players still eat biryani ahead of the 2019 World Cup.
According to media reports, the left-arm bowler was of the opinion that Pakistan cricketers are eating junk food and are not worried about their diet before the mega tournament.
“[Our] players are still being served biryani, you cannot compete against champions by feeding them biryani,” he said.
It has often been observed that Pakistan team do not hesitate to attend parties and enjoy all kinds of meals, including biryani — a widely popular Pakistani dish of spicy rice mixed with beef, mutton or chicken.
The situation is particularly alarming at the moment as the 2019 World Cup is round the corner and all teams look forward to give their best performance by taking care of their fitness and diet. Pakistan team are known as one of the most unfit squads in the cricketing world and Wasim Akram is worried about that.
It is worth mentioning here that the fielding of the Green Shirts was also poor against Australia in a recently-concluded one-day international (ODI) series in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Wasim Akram further added that he sees a future captain in Mohammad Amir. The statement by the legend was a surprise as Amir’s form has not been up to the mark recently and his selection for the World Cup is also uncertain at the moment.
The 10-team World Cup is scheduled from May 30 to July 14 in England and Wales. Pakistan will open their campaign with the match against West Indies on May 31 at Nottingham.
