Sindh govt extends Rangers' special powers for 90 days

The Rangers had been given powers under Section-5 of the Anti Terrorism Act, 1997.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Sindh government has extended the special powers of the Rangers in all across the province including Karachi for 90 days, Dunya News reported.

Summary regarding the extension to the Rangers’ special authority was sent to the Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah from the Home Ministry, which was approved on Friday.

The grant of extension to the special authority to the Rangers will expire on July 4, 2019.

The Rangers had been given powers under Section-5 of the Anti Terrorism Act, 1997 according to which Rangers were authorised to conduct a raid and arrest accused.
