Valentine's or Haya Day? – Different perspectives to celebrate 14th February

One part of Pakistani society is celebrating it as the day of love.
(Web-Desk) – Valentine’s Day is being celebrated across the world every year on 14th of February as the day of loved ones however the perspective of celebrating this day in Pakistan is quite different and conservative. An interesting series of Valentine’s Day posts has been observed today on social media, specifically trending on Twitter.
One part of Pakistani society is celebrating it as the day of love and posting accordingly on social platforms whereas the others have been observing and promoting this day as “Haya Day” which implies that women should stay in veil and anything which could be a way of losing their dignity, such traditions and events shouldn’t be observed. It was something unique yet interestingcirculatingon Twitter as the top trend was “Valentines”, while “Haya Day 2k19” ranked on the second.
A sweet and sour cocktail of tweets portrayedmarvelous expressions of wishing Valentine’s Day to the loved ones with bunch of red roses and caption studded with heart emoticons while other tweets had an odd tone depicting a harsh opposition towards the concept of celebrating this day.
Apart from that, a number of tweets were done in humorous way and that worked as cherry on top.

Looking into the recent past, University of Faisalabad also announced to name Valentine’s Day as “Sisters Day” while rejecting the idea of celebrating it as the day of loved ones considering it against the teachings of Islam. However, it received great criticism as well because everyone called it a conservative thought. Well… anyone can differ in opinion.
