KARACHI (Dunya News) – The by-election to the Sindh Assembly seat PS-94 is being held today (Sunday).
The polling has begun at 8am and will end at 5pm.
In total, 16 candidates are participating in the by-election with a tough contest between Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidates.
All polling stations have been declared sensitive while Rangers personnel have been deployed in and outside to ensure peaceful, secure and transparent voting process.
The seat had fallen vacant after the death of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan’s (MQM-P) lawmaker Muhammad Wajahat, who won the seat in the general elections, 2018.
In this regard, several political parties and prominent among those MQM-P and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) had increased political activities to acquire public’s support in the PS-94 which is located in the district limits of Korangi.
Earlier, MQM-P had organised a rally on the last day of election campaign.
MQM-P’s leader Amir Khan sarcastically had advised political rivals to not struggle by saying that his party’s candidate would be victorious with a decisive margin.
Later, PSP’s leader Mustafa Kamal moved to the constituency and asked the general public to support his party if they were to secure their basic rights and fundamental facilities.
