Encroachment mafia receives extortion money to allow illegal constructions in the several areas.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The grand anti-encroachment operation of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) failed against land mafia who are allowing illegal constructions in the metropolis.
According to details, KDA failed to bar encroachment mafia from receiving extortion money to allow illegal constructions in the several areas including Clifton.
Several citizens have registered complains against the encroachment mafia for allowing people to construct illegal buildings.
The court has also taken notice of the complains against Karachi municipal Commissioner (KMC), District Metropolitan Corporations (DMCs) and divisional administration.
Earlier, on January 3, KDA had demolished more than 500 illegal structures in different areas of Karachi.
The operation of KDA state and enforcement cell had continued on second day during which more than 200 shops, stores and other encroachment constructed mainly on drains were razed down in Karachi’s Korangi area.
Enraged residents tried to obstruct the process but faced baton charging from police.
The residents pleaded the authorities to halt the operation but their request bore no fruit as KDA vowed that the anti-encroachment operation in Korangi would continue till the removal of all encroachments.
