PM Khan arrives in Turkey on two-day official visit

KONYA (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday arrived in Konya on a two-day official visit to Turkey on the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

On his arrival, the Prime Minister was warmly received by Governor Konya Cüneyit Orhan Toprak, Deputy Mayor Mithat and Pakistani ambassador Syrus Sajjad Qazi at the airport.

This is his first visit to Pakistan’s friend Turkey after assuming the prime minister’s office.

A high-level delegation including Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua are accompanying the PM.

Imran Khan and his delegation visited the mausoleum of great Sufi saint Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi. The premier laid floral wreath on Rumi’s grave and offered fateha.

PM meets Turkish trade minister

Prime Minister Imran Khan later flew to Ankara Esenboga Airpora. Turkish Minister for Trade Ms. Ruhsar Pekjan received the Prime Minister at the airport. They also held a meeting and exchanged views on mutual issues.

Chairman of Pakistan-Turkey Cultural Association Burhan Kayaturk was also at the airport.

The top leadership of both countries is expected to communicate on regional and international issues including Kashmir dispute and peace talks in Afghanistan.

They are also expected to examine enhancement of bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Turkey.

The PM will address a business forum and meet Turkish businessmen and potential investors for Pakistan.

PM Khan is scheduled for return to the country on Friday night.
