Accused of nine-year-old girl's rape, murder case arrested: DIG Mardan

On Friday, nine-year-old girl was reportedly raped and tortured to death.
NOWSHERA (Dunya News) – Police have arrested the accused of a nine-year-old girl’s rape, murder case that was reported in Nowshera, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mardan region reported on Tuesday.
While talking to media, DIG Mardan Muhammad Ali Khan said that the accused named Yasir was friend of victim’s father and he had also attended the funeral prayers of the nine-year old Manahil.
DIG said that at least 20 suspects were under investigation while police had taken 200 DNA samples.
He added that police identified the accused after his DNA matched with the samples taken from the victim’s body and was arrested the accused from his residence.
Muhammad Ali Khan told that a joint investigation team (JIT) was formulated to carryout investigations of 20 suspects and collected DNA samples
IG has announced Rs 1 lakh prize money for the members of the police team who investigated and arrested the accused who has confessed to the crime, DIG Mardan informed.
It is pertinent here to mention that on Friday, an eight-year-old girl was reportedly raped and tortured to death as the victim’s head was crushed with a heavy stone.
Station House Officer (SHO) revealed that police had recovered the body of Manahil from the nearby graveyard on Kheshgi road.
The girl’s father Shah had registered a First Information Report (FIR) in the police station of Nowshera after what police initiated investigations.
According to the FIR reports, Shah’s daughter disappeared on Thursday. Manahil was studying in grade three at a private school. After school, she left for a nearby religious seminary but didn’t return.
