Deaf, mute and blind people are sitting in Islamabad: Asif Zardari

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – In an apprent verbal onslaught on the PTI-led government, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari on Friday said ‘deaf, mute and blind people are sitting in Islamabad.’

"What sin have we committed?" asked Asif Zardari while addressing a public gathering in Ghotki. He said a nation that is united and aware of its rights cannot be made to back down.

"No one can scare your leadership," Zardari told participants.

He said a country only becomes stronger when its people are happy and it is his PPP’s philosophy to give rights to the poor first.

It may be mentioned here that the government today issued a list of 172 people - including Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Zardari, Faryal Talpur, and Murad Ali Shah - named in a joint investigation team s (JIT) report regarding the fake accounts case. All the accused have have been placed on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Earlier this week, a JIT formed to probe money laundering of billions of rupees through fake bank accounts submitted a report in the Supreme Court, stating that a close nexus had been found between Zardari Group and Omni Group. The report revealed that at least 29 bank accounts had been identified as fake which had been used for money laundering of Rs42 billion.

The top court had ordered the Zardari Group, Omni Group, Faryal Talpur and others to file their replies on the JIT report by the next hearing on December 31.
