High-level NAB meeting reviews mega corruption cases, progress in investigation

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A high level meeting of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) headed by chairman retired justice Javed Iqbal was held in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The meeting held in NAB headquarters reviewed corruption cases, inquiries and development in investigations.
According to the press release issued by the anti-graft watchdog, at least 503 accused have been arrested and 440 references filed in a span of one year.
It says that 1206 cases pertaining to Rs900 billion corruption are under hearing in various accountability courts. Moreover, 105 out of 179 mega corruption case proceedings are also in court.
Inquiry of 15 major corruption cases is being held while 19 are in the investigation phase. Meanwhile, 40 cases have been wind up as per law.
It was told in the meeting that NAB had approved 1713 complaints’ inspection, 877 inquiries and 227 investigations.
The press release says that NAB has set a 10-month time to take the white collar crime to its logical end.
A state-of-the-art forensic laboratory has been established in Islamabad. NAB acquires solid evidence through mobile data and finger prints identification.
While addressing the participants, NAB chairman asserted that the organization is adhering the policy of ‘accountability for all’.
Our priority is to take the corruption scandala to their logical end, he stressed.
