On Monday, security guards of Nawaz Sharif had severely thrashed cameraman.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The security guards of former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday have again manhandled journalists who were protesting torture of their colleague cameraman of a private news channel by the same men.
The repeat of brazen maltreatment occurred today when Nawaz Sharif reached the Accountability Court to attend the hearing in the Flagship reference he is facing. The security squad of Sharif shoved away the journalists and resorted to foul language. Intriguingly, Nawaz Sharif evaded an avalanche of queries of reporters and passed by without speaking out.
Previously, on Monday (yesterday) a lensman of some news channel was brutally tortured by these very guards over attempt to film Nawaz Sharif during media talk at Parliament premises where Sharif had come to meet his brother Shehbaz Sharif.
The cameraman of a local TV channel was recording footage of the former prime minister while he was leaving the National Assembly when his guards intercepted him and attacked him.
The video footage available with Dunya News shows the guards chasing the cameraman, who ran to save himself but was eventually brought to the ground with kicks to the face.
Cameraman Wajid Ali fell unconscious following the attack. He was rushed to the Poly Clinic hospital in an unconscious condition.
The journalists caught the one of the guards and handed him over to the Parliament House security, while the other managed to flee.
The journalist community also staged a protest demonstration and demanded an action against the PML-N leadership.
NA Speaker notice
National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser had taken notice of the incident and directed to launch an investigation. He had also barred the entry of private guards in the Parliament House premises.
