PM Imran forms committee to probe allegations against SSGCL, SNGPL MDs

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A fact-finding committee formed by Prime Minister Imran Khan to review failing of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) systems, will present its report to the premier in 72 hours.
PM Imran presided over a meeting high-level meeting in which matters pertaining to gas crisis in the country was reviewed.
The prime minister constituted a four-member fact-finding committee. The committee will investigate allegations against managing directors (MDs) of SNGPL and SSGCL.
The committee will also review failure of both companies and will present a report to PM Imran Khan in 72 hours.
While briefing the prime minister, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that SNGPL and SSGC are responsible for current gas crisis in the country, who hid information from the government regarding fault in some of gas compressors.
He said the companies also demonstrated negligence and incompetence in the estimate of gas demand during December.
Taking notice of negligence on part of SNGPL and SSGC for withholding information regarding fault gas compressors, the Prime Minister ordered inquiry against Managing Directors of both the organizations and directed the Petroleum Minister to submit detailed report in next 72 hours.
The premier was apprised that eight cargo ships carrying RLNG will reach Pakistan as per schedule and efforts have been expedited to restore domestic gas production.
He was told that despite reduction in local gas production and fault in gas compressors, it has been maintained that domestic gas consumers are not affected. He, however, said CNG and captive plants of some general industries are facing difficulties.
