Mustafa Nawaz slams PTI Govt over steep depreciation of Rupee

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan People s Party (PPP) leader and Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar on Friday slammed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Government saying that the sharp increase in the value of Dollar is devastating the economy of the state.

Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar has expressed concerns over the sky high value of dollar that has shown a rise in dollar to further burden debts by Rs. 760 billion.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s policies are destroying Pakistan’s economy.

With the surge in the dollar rate, the national debt has increased multiple times, he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dollar value shot up by as much as Rs. 8 in the interbank market on Friday after which it reached at Rs.142.

According to details, dollar is fluctuating between Rs.140 and Rs.142 in open market.

Earlier, on October 9, local currency began to depreciate against dollar and reached at the nerve-racking level of after an increase of Rs.10.28 in interbank market and Rs. 11.20 in open markets.

Following this sharp increase in the dollar value, in a short span, an increase of 8.20 pc was recorded in the value of dollar against rupee. The slide recorded during October, was the second biggest slide in single session, first was witnessed in 1999 on May 19, when the rupee depicted a slide of 10 percent.
