PM's initiative to open Kartarpur corridor widely appreciated: FO

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal has said the groundbreaking of Kartarpur corridor is a monumental event which will open many opportunities for both Pakistan and India.
Talking to the media persons in Islamabad this morning before leaving for Kartarpur, he said this was the initiative of Prime Minister Imran Khan which was widely appreciated including the people in India.
He said the corridor will facilitate the Sikh pilgrims to visit their holiest sites in Pakistan.
Responding to a question, the foreign office spokesperson said the construction of the corridor will stand completed before the next birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak in November.
It is to be mentioned here that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan will perform the ground-breaking of the four kilometers long Kartarpur Corridor today (Wednesday).
The corridor will connect Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur area of Narowal district with Dera Baba Nanak in India s Gurdaspur District.
Pakistan will build the corridor from the Indian border to the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur while the other part from Dera Baba Nanak in Indian Punjab’s Gurdaspur district upto the border will be constructed by India.
An Indian delegation, including Minister for Food Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Minister for Housing Hardeep S. Puri, Indian Punjab Minister for Local Government and Tourism and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu and Indian journalists, will attend the ceremony.
