SAARC CCI decides to convene 78th meeting in Islamabad

SAARC CCI concluded its 76th Executive Committee Meeting on November 10.
ISLAMABAD, Nov 15 (APP) – The 76th Executive Committee meeting of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAARC CCI) concluded in Chennai India with an unanimous decision to convene the 78th Executive Committee meeting in Islamabad at the occasion of inauguration of SAARC CCI at headquarters
SAARC CCI concluded its 76th Executive Committee Meeting on November 10, 2018 in Chennai, India under the chair of Mr. Ruwan Edirisinghe, President SAARC CCI. The meeting succeeded in chalking out the way forward, under President’s Vision to be the world’s best Chamber by 2030. Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) hosted said meeting at Raddison Blu Hotel.
The SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry is an apex business organization of SAARC dedicated to promote regional economic integration through creating strong business linkages among the entrepreneurs of the of South Asia.
The house finalized the 77th Executive Committee & General Assembly meeting in Kathmandu, Nepal, along SAARC Investment Forum and SAARC Trade Fair in Feb 2019. The house also agreed to convene its 78th Executive Committee Meeting in Islamabad at the occasion of inauguration of SAARC CCI headquarter Building. Women Entrepreneurship Awards-2019, was also unanimously agreed to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in March, 2019.
Mr. Edirisinghe also invited members to block the dates to ensure participation in SAARC CCI headquarter building inauguration. He also invited members to join him to lead a business delegation to participate in 32nd CACCI meeting scheduled on 23rd to 24th Nov, 2018 in Istanbul, Turkey.
Dr. Sunil Motiwaal, CEO, SAARC Development Fund also graced the occasion and made a video presentation and initiated dialogue to equip SAARC CCI members with co-financing funding mechanism of SDF.
On the sidelines of the SAARC CCI 76th Executive Committee Meeting, a SAARC CCI organized a seminar titled “Resilient South Asia: Regional Agenda for Climate Change Cooperation” in partnership with Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF). The seminar aimed on the way forward for the private sector to streamline strategies based on innovation and entrepreneurship as the key drivers to address the larger challenges of climate change.
Ms. Hina Saeed, Secretary General SAARC CCI and Mr. Vinod Juneja, President SAARC CCI (India) welcomed the participants from SAARC member states. The program was graced with the presence of Chief Guest, Shri Satish Chandra, Hon’ble Justice (Retd.) Allahabad.
Mr. Ruwan Edirisnghe, President SAARC CCI, was the key note speaker in the inaugural session and highlighted the role of private sector in combating adverse impact of Climate Change in South Asia. Prior to that, Mr. Vinod Juneja, Vice President, SAARC CCI (India) delivered a welcome address. Dr. Rohita Silva, Vice President SAARC CCI (Sri Lanka), Ms. Hina Saeed, Secretary General, SAARC CCI and Mr. Sunil Motiwal, CEO SAARC Development Fund, also addressed the opening session and shared their insights to overcome Climate Change issues.
Prior to SAARC CCI Seminar and Executive Meeting, FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO) under the Chair of Ms. Kavitha Dutt, Vice Chairperson, SCWEC- India, convened a workshop on Digital marketing to equip women entrepreneurs of South Asia with social media tools. The workshop covered skills which are fundamental to introduce your product in a global business. More than 100 women entrepreneurs participated in the said workshop.
