PM Khan reviews progress on new local government system

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Tuesday reaffirmed that money funds would be earmarked on village level under new local body system, thus assisting in curbing widespread corruption.
Khan presided over a huddle convened for reviewing revamped local body system in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The session was attended by Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, special advisor to PM Muhammad Shehzad Arbab, Provincial Minister of Punjab for Local Government and Community Development Aleem Khan, KP Local Body Minister Shehram and other senior officials.
“Under new local body system, uplift projects will be approved in alignment with priorities of the masses”, the PM was quoted as saying.
PM went on to say that such legislation would be crafted which would enable masses to hold their representatives accountable.
“The sole purpose of revamped local body system is to welfare of masses in alignment with their priorities”, Khan told attendants.
