KOLKATA (AFP) - India beat West Indies by five wickets in the first Twenty20 international in Kolkata on Sunday with Dinesh Karthik making an unbeaten 31 and Kuldeep Yadav taking three wickets.

Chasing a modest 110 for victory, the hosts achieved their target with 13 balls to spare and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Debutant fast bowler Oshane Thomas and skipper Carlos Brathwaite took two wickets each.
