ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistanis owning offshore properties have been asked to comply with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Thirteen Pakistanis out of 20 who had declared their foreign properties under the previous government’s amnesty scheme appeared before the Supreme Court.
Chief Justice Saqib Nisar ordered the persons concerned to submit their details to FBR as well as record statements with FIA. He remarked that all three parties should sort out discrepancies together.
FIA Director General Bashir Memon told the court that the seven individuals – Hamayun Shabir, Senator Waqar Ahmed, Sheikh Tahir, Faisal, Imtiaz Fazal, Abdul Aziz, and Faisal Hussain - were abroad.
A person named Noshad Haroon said he had disclosed six properties under the amnesty scheme but the investigation agency in its report put the figure to 12. Responding to this, the FIA representative said Haroon did not provide complete details of his properties.
The court while adjourning the case for an indefinite period ordered the persons to approach FBR with complete data by Tuesday and sought a report on the matter within 10 days.
