ISLAMABAD (APP):President Dr Arif Alvi on Wednesday said eradication of polio being the highest priority, the incumbent government was making all possible efforts to eliminate the endemic disease.

He said the World Polio Day was a reminder to the shared commitment to continue making efforts towards eliminating the menace of the crippling disease.
“Pakistan, unfortunately, is one of the few countries where the polio virus continues to threaten the future of our children”, he said. “Let us also on this day reflect that how far we have been able to cater to the needs of those who unfortunately were affected by this disease.”
The president called for further enhancing efforts to facilitate those who were physically challenged. “The needs of people with disabilities can be met if each one of us starts feeling the agony of being handicapped.”
He also called upon the civil society, religious leaders, media and people from all walks of life to play even greater role towards creating awareness against polio, complementing government efforts and facilitating polio teams to reach out to each and every child in every nook and corner of the country.
