Police baton charge residents of Pakistan Quarters protesting against eviction

The protesters started pelting stones at the police team and shouted anti government slogans.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Police resorted to baton charge on residents of Pakistan Quarters who were protesting against expected eviction, as a result, 6 protestors were injured on Wednesday.
Police also used water cannon and fired tear gas to disperse the mob.
The protesters, including children, women and men, started pelting stones at the police team and shouted anti government slogans.
MQM leader Farooq Sattar, Kanwer Naveed Jameel and Aamir Khan also joined the protest and demanded the government not to evict Pakistan Quarters that is residence of many people.
Farooq Sattar and other political leaders expressed solidarity with residents of Pakistan Quarters and appealed Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of the case.
The protesters claimed that they have the registries of their homes. They said that vote was given for ‘Change’ but we do not need such change in ‘Naya Pakistan’ that deprives citizens of their houses.
