IHC orders to release Axact CEO Shoaib Sheikh on bail

Petitioner’s counsel says prison term of his client should be suspended till decision of appeal

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday ordered to release Axact CEO Shoaib Sheikh, who was convicted in Axact Fake Degree Scandal case, on bail after suspending his punishment.

IHC judge Justice Athar Minallah took up the case filed by the Axact CEO against the verdict of district and session judge Islamabad for hearing on Tuesday.

During the proceedings, petitioner’s counsel Raja Rizwan Abbasi said that prison term of his client should be suspended till decision of appeal against trial court’s punishment.

Abbasi further asked the court that there was grave legal lacuna in the decision of trial court to which Justice Athar Minallah remarked, “There was no complainant in the case, FIA said that fraud had been committed with millions of people but no one has not lodged a complaint in this regard.

The judge further remarked, “this was not proved in any way that degree is fake. Those two witnesses that have been presented by the FIA were also not the complainants.
