LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday issued a show-cause notice to Ahmad Shahzad for playing cricket while serving his ineligibility period.
Shahzad has been asked to “explain why proceedings should not be initiated against him for apparently violating the terms of the Agreed Sanction Agreement entered into with PCB and the PCB Anti-Doping Rules by playing cricket whilst serving a period of ineligibility”.
“Ahmad has been required to respond by or before October 25,” said the cricket board in its statement.
Shahzad was banned from playing cricket for four months after he tested positive for a prohibited substance during the Pakistan Cup 2018.
“Cricketer, Ahmad Shehzad was Provisionally Suspended and was issued a Notice of Charge by PCB on July 10, 2018 for the presence of a prohibited substance in his sample which was collected through an in-competition doping test during the Pakistan Cup 2018,” PCB said.
“Ahmad accepts that he has committed the violations of the PCB Rules, but had no intent to cheat or enhance his performance. Pursuant to a request from Ahmad, agreed sanctions under Article 8.6 of the PCB Rules have been reached,” it added.
The PCB said Ahmad would deliver lectures on anti-doping during his rehabilitation process and a public decision will be uploaded on the board’s website.
