Zainab murder case: Convict Imran Ali to be hanged till death on Oct 17

The convict will be hanged till death on October 17 at Central Jail in Lahore.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday has issued death warrants of the convict Imran Ali in Zainab murder case. Admin judge Sheikh Sajjad Ahmad issued the warrants.
The convict will be hanged till death on October 17 at Central Jail in Lahore. Imran was sentenced to death on 21 counts. The special court handed down life imprisonment on three counts in Batool murder case as well as 23 years jail.
On February 2017, ATC handed down death penalty to Imran on four counts he was found guilty in rape and murder of Zainab. A fine of Rs.1m has also been slapped on the convict alongside Rs.1m blood money to be paid to parents of victim Zainab
On June 12, Supreme Court (SC) had turned down his plea against death sentence in rape cum murder case of seven-year-old Zainab Ansari.
Earlier, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar had taken suo motu notice of delay in implementing sentence of convict.
The trial was held in the special anti-terrorism court in the presence of the killer, Mohammad Imran Ali.
Zainab was found dead in a skip on January 9, 2017 in Kasur district near Lahore several days after her disappearance.
Imran was arrested two weeks after he committed the crime that ignited nationwide protests. Taking suo moto notice, the CJP ordered the concerned authorities to submit report within 24 hours.
The rape and murder of Zainab Ansari was the 12th such case in Kasur district in the last year.
