LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday dismissed contempt of court notice against former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal.
A three-member full bench headed by Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi heard the case.
Iqbal appeared before the court. Conversing with him, the judge remarked, “You are an educated and sensible person. You should be a role model for the public. Do not engage in such activity again.”
“Whatever I said was uttered in emotions. My remarks were not related to this institution,” said Ahsan.
Talking to media, the PML-N leader asserted that courts are the last haven of justice. “The judges supported my stance. We have always obeyed the judiciary,” he said.
Iqbal went on to say that their government never asked for funds for any developmental project.
“Elimination power crisis was the priority of our government. We worked for water, energy and food security. The government should completed the developmental projects seriously. In our tenure, a road show was held pertaining to the projects while 12000 MW electricity projects were also installed,” asserted Ahsan.
