RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Advisor to prime minister (PM) Imran Khan on Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Babar Awan on Saturday appeared before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and dispelled all allegations pertaining to delay in Nandipur Power Project.
As per details garnered, NAB Rawalpindi grilled Awan for at least three hours.
Sources privy to anti-graft watchdog stated several questions were posed before Awan. “You had served as federal law minister in Pakistan Peoples Party’s tenure. During the same era, mammoth loses in billions were inflicted on the national exchequer. Do you take responsibility in delay of the project?”, an official asked Awan. To this, the senior lawyer replied, “I performed my duties to the utmost extent possible. I have no connection with delay in the project. I hereby dispel all allegations”.
The anti-graft watchdog will submit its report before Supreme Court of Pakistan after thorough probe into the matter.
It would be suffice here to say that former premier Yousaf Raza Gillani and Maula Bakhsh Chandio has already recorded their statements in the court.
The project remained a victim of delays since its inception. In 2012, a one-man commission comprising retired Justice Rehmat Hussain Jafri had revealed in a report that due to the delays in the project, the national exchequer had suffered a loss of Rs113 billion.
