IAEA: Nuclear situation improving at power plants in Japan

The IAEA on Sunday said there were some positive developments at the Fukushima nuclear reactors.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that situation has been improving in the past 24 hours at the disaster-hit nuclear power plant, in Japan.Graham Andrew, a senior official of the IAEA, said that efforts are being made to cool down and maintain the temperature at the nuclear reactors. He said that radiation levels in major Japanese cities had not changed and remained below the dangerous levels but the overall situation still remains very dangerous.He said the IAEA could confirm that in areas near the nuclear plant, radioactive iodine had been detected in some freshly grown vegetables.
