Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry says strengthening democracy is imperative.

Ruling out the much talked about Bangladesh model, he said all efforts should be directed to strengthen democracy. We should blame ourselves for our own weaknesses, he added.A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard Asghar Khan case today. The case is against political funding by the ISI in the run-up to 1990 elections.The apex court has adjourned hearing of the case for two weeks.
