Vladmir Putin declares East Ukraine gas supply-cut as 'genocide'
The Russian premier heavily criticized the move
MOSCOW (AFP) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday said that Kiev s decision to cut off gas supplies to east Ukraine last week, which prompted Moscow to start direct deliveries, smacked of "genocide."
"It s not enough that there s hunger there and the OSCE has reported a humanitarian catastrophe, but then to switch off gas supplies too! What do you call that? That already smacks of genocide," Putin said at a news conference with his Cypriot counterpart Nicos Anastasiades, quoted by RIA Novosti.
