Lisa Salberg wanted to say goodbye to her heart.

NEW JERSEY (Web Desk) - An American woman, Lisa Salberg, made a strange request to the doctors before undergoing a heart transplant surgery that she wanted to hold her heart after the transplant.

Salberg was suffering from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy for 12 years. As her complications grew and her heart began to fail, she went through a lifesaving transplant surgery.

Her old heart was replaced with a new one.

She said that they had been friends for 48 years and after being with it every moment of her life, she wanted to say goodbye to it.

As the patient regained consciousness after successful surgery, doctors fulfilled her wish to keep her old heart so she could hold it.

She took pictures by holding her removed heart which was unusual for everyone.
