KARNATAKA (Web Desk) - A 17-year-old Indian boy suddenly woke up on the way to his funeral after being presumed dead by his parents and relatives.

Last month, Kumar Marewad was bitten by a dog in Dharwad’ village in Karnataka state and was shifted to hospital where he became critically ill with fever.

He was placed on ventilator after the doctors revealed that an infection had spread across his body.

The doctors also told his family that his chances of survival were bleak once taken off of life support.

He was then transferred to his house where he was believed dead when he stopped making movements after a certain period.

His funeral was arranged and was being taken for the ceremony when just two kilometers away from the site, Kumar opened his eyes and started moving his arms and legs.

He was again rushed to the hospital and is said to be in critical condition.

His current physician, Dr Mahesh Neelakhantannavar said that they “suspect he suffers from meningoencephalitis, an infection caused due to dog bite”.

Last year a man in Mumbai who was presumed dead woke up just moments before his post mortem was due to begin.
