FCC in US warns consumers that they could lose money after falling prey to the recent phone scam

(Web Desk) – It was reported that a new phone scam broke out in US according to which even saying ‘yes’ while talking to unknown caller can prove dangersous. Consumers can lose money if they answer ‘yes’ to question like, “Can you hear my voice?”

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States has issued a warning in this regard. In an official statement, it suggested people not to answer calls from unknown callers, hang up when a question triggering ‘yes’ is asked, write down the number and file complaint to FCC right away and activate the robocall blocking service through the service provider.

It told that it had received complaints and news reports about fraudulent callers in which scammers – often by using recordings – call for various causes like mortgage. They ask such questions which are answered by ‘yes’ to record the voice pattern.

If someone responds with ‘yes’, the scammer can obtain his/her voice signature which can be used in place of the ordinary signature. Consequently, the credit card and account information are exposed to risk.

FCC has suggested the mobile phone users to quickly hang up whenever they receive such a call. The institute vows to safeguard any unauthorized charges faced by financial statements.
