FIFA World Cup Semi Final: Players to watch out for
The closely fought encounter will host a few key players tonight.
(WebDesk) - The fate of the team who will get to face France in the 2018 World Cup Final in Moscow on Sunday will be decided today in the second Semi Final between England and Croatia. Both the teams have had their fair share of success so far in the tournament but only one of them can progress to face the French in the final.
Both the teams host a number of key players that can ultimately prove to be the main difference between the two sides tonight. Here we have a look at these players that have the potential of singlehandedly turning the game on its head.
England
Harry Kane
Perhaps England’s most influential player in the World Cup so far, Harry Kane has had a great time in Russia bagging six goals for his national side whilst captaining his team to success in four out of five matches played so far. Kane’s accuracy, power and swift movements have been key in England’s success. He will be looking to come up with the goods once more against the sturdy Croatian defence to ensure a place in the last two of the tournament.
Jordan Pickford
Considered to be one of England’s weak links prior to the tournament, the 24-year-old has proven many wrong with star performances against top quality sides. His crucial saves against the likes of Colombia and Sweden proved to be the defining points in his country’s progress to the Semis. Pickford will have to bring his A-game against Croatia’s midfield and strikers if England are to make it to the Final.

Croatia’s most influential player on the pitch thus far has been none other than star midfielder Luka Modric. The 32-year-old’s precision and slick passing has been key for his country. Other than that, his accurate shooting especially from outside the box has been second to none. Croatia’s superstar will have to battle it out against the likes of Jordan Henderson and Eric Dier to help his team progress tonight.
Ivan Rakitic
Another key player in today’s all-important tie will be Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic. The central midfielder has played a key role in Croatia’s inspirational campaign. Rakitic’s visionary passing, sheer speed and brilliant link up play with the forwards can prove to be the difference between the two teams.
