Determined women hockey players clash with men in Lahore
Women are determined to make name in hockey field.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Hockey is Pakistan’s national sport yet only four hockey clubs have been established for women all over the country. To bring flavor to the sport, women hockey team competed with the men’s.
It was after three years that these women players were utilized. Some had simply return to becoming homemakers while others had engaged themselves in other sports because no domestic and international event or competition had taken place for the past three years. The joy of returning to the field made the women players play against men.
National Women Hockey team will participate in the qualifying round of the Asia Cup to be held in Thailand. Coaches have worked hard on their training but it is better not to keep the hopes high.
“There are only 100 women players of hockey in the country,” said the coach.
Although this is quite a problematic state, it is not at all disappointing and has a brighter side as a new step has been taken which will encourage more and more girls to play in the future.
