Chaudhry Nisar denied taking oath due to absence of Speaker, Deputy Speaker

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Former Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan could not take oath in the Punjab Assembly today (Monday) due to absence of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

Talking to media persons outside the Punjab Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar said the decision to take oath was taken because the government is bringing ordinances in the dark of night.

He hinted at moving the court if the process is delayed any further.

Nisar Ali Khan said that after two days he will reveal who is trying to stop him from taking oath, adding that then he will be able to speak freely.

He said that a copy was sent to the Punjab Assembly and Election Commission a week ago but today it was said that the oath cannot be taken without the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

"The government is adding disqualification to the ordinance. I object to bringing the ordinance in the dark of night," he said.

In the last election, I was elected from the Provincial Assembly with a lead of 34,000 votes, he added.

Replying to a question, Chaudhry Nisar said that he is not a part of any political game, the report of meeting with Shehbaz Sharif was based on speculations.
