Disallowing Maryam Nawaz from flying abroad is govt's fascism: Shehbaz Sharif
Shehbaz Sharif asserted that the policies of the incumbent government have utterly failed.
LONDON (Dunya NEWS) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif termed the government’s stance on prohibiting Maryam Nawaz from flying abroad as fascism, and hoped for justice from the court.
On the other hand, he also strongly criticized the Indian government and expressed that the current situation in India is a reflection of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mentality. “Imran Khan is the one who tried to befriend such a person [Modi],” he added.
Shehbaz Sharif went on to say that the Modi government is executing worst kind of barbarism in Kashmir. The PML-N president said that PM Imran is not capable of stopping ongoing atrocities in the occupied valley, and his refusal to attend the Kuala Lumpur summit is a reflection of his stubbornness. He asserted that the policies of the incumbent government have utterly failed.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and former law minister Dr Babar Awan said that the incumbent government will never permit any convict to leave the country. He added: "The rules concerning placement of the name of persons on Exit Control List (ECL) do not allow the government to entertain her [Maryam] application to remove her name from the no-fly list,”
The subcommittee of the federal cabinet that deals with ECL cases rejected her plea, as she had sought the facility for flying to London to look after her ailing father
Meanwhile, Lahore High Court (LHC) adjourned the hearing of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz’s plea seeking removal of her name from Exit Control List (ECL) till December 26.
During the proceedings, the court has directed to file another plea regarding the matter after Federal Cabinet’s decision that is due on Tuesday.
The plaintiff has stated that no stance has come forward from government side in this regard as the deadline given by the court has ended today.
