Whole cabinet not in favor of removing Nawaz's name from ECL: Fawad Ch

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Monday has revealed that all the members of Federal Cabinet are not in favor of removing ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s name from Exit Control List (ECL).

In a statement, the minister said that the Federal Cabinet has not yet received any summary in this regard. Cabinet’s approval is required to exclude former premier’s name from ECL so that he can go abroad for medical treatment, he clarified.

Fawad Chaudhry further told that he also opposes the decision of sending Nawaz Sharif to London and criticized Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for not building such a hospital where its supremo can get satisfactory treatment.

If I were in Nawaz’s place, I would have preferred to die instead of saying that there is no hospital of my standard in Pakistan, he added.

On the other hand, a committee, under the supervision of law ministry, will present recommendations on removing Nawaz Sharif’s name from ECL in Federal Cabinet session on November 12.

According to Prime Minister House sources, the PM or interior ministry cannot remove name from ECL without following proper procedure.

Earlier today, ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s ticket to London for medical treatment was canceled today due to delay in excluding his name from ECL.

Nawaz Sharif was scheduled to travel UK on Qatar Airways flight QR629 today. However, his ticket has been canceled as the authorities have not removed his name from ECL yet.

Party sources told that Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz, his brother Shehbaz Sharif and personal doctor Dr Adnan were also due to leave Pakistan along with the ex-PM.

They further told that arrangements for best medical treatment for Nawaz Sharif have been completed at Harley Street Clinic in London by his son Hussain Nawaz.
